The Cedar Falls Community School District views a crisis as an incident that directly or indirectly affects a few or all of our students or staff. A crisis can occur before, during or after regular school hours. Each school building has a Safe School Plan in place designed to be effective in a number of crisis situations.
Our Safe School Plan follows a model recommended by the U.S. Department of Education. Through Preparedness, Prevention, Response and Recovery, we take measures to ensure your child's safety before, during and after a crisis situation. In addition, the District works with a community-based team to continually improve our plan.
DO YOUR PART...
Please take a minute to review this brochure which gives you an overview of the District's plan to keep students safe and gives directions for families to follow in the event of a crisis involving a school building.
Keep the school supplied with required medication and informed of any changes in your child’s health status. Essential medications will be moved with students in the event of an evacuation.
If you child has special needs, it is important we have plans in place to assist with health, communication and mobility issues. Supplies need to be provided to the school to address student needs that may arise over an extended period of time.
