Coming Up

March 2nd is the last professional development day for the year. K-6 educators will dig in to the intervention component of the PLC (professional learning community) process. They will spend the day looking at how do we as a team respond when students aren’t learning and how do we provide enrichment opportunities to those that are proficient.

The collaborative teams of junior high and high school educators will focus on the continuous process of monitoring student learning through the use of common formative assessments. The focus shifts from “giving a test to determine your grade” to using formative assessments to determine students’ progress towards a specific learning goal.

Ask your child’s teacher how their work in a collaborative team has changed the testing process and how they already use common formative assessments to increase learning opportunities for students.
